Three years is what it costs, and neither of them has ever complained about it in front of anybody.

She lived in a flat in Marchmont with a boiler that did not work properly and four colleagues she liked and one she did not. She learned to sail, badly, in a club on the Forth full of men in their sixties who were extremely rude to her and eventually fond of her.
