They did not remarry.

That surprises people and it stopped surprising either of them by about the fourth year. There had been a wedding — a real one, in June, with her father crying in the second hymn and a speech about her mother that stopped the room — and neither of them could think of a way to have another that was not, in some small unbearable way, a correction of that day.
