The room behind the shop had no windows and four thousand books in it, and most of them were not books but bindings — covers with nothing inside, spines with false titles, the whole trade of a woman who had spent sixty years hiding pages inside other pages.

"Silvering," Ottoline said, when Eira showed her the wrists. "Four-point. Two out."
