A Car at the Kerb

She slept fourteen hours, worked a fourteen-hour shift, argued with her mother about Kerem, slept again.

On the third day, coming out of the staff entrance at ten past eight in the evening with her hair still wet from the changing room showers, she found a black car at the kerb with its engine off, and a man leaning against it who did not straighten up when he saw her, because men like that never do.
